Fall of a Tyrant

Years, Months, Days, Hours.
My eyes dart back-
and forth in anticipation.
i was once little, small,
no bigger than an ant.
I now am large, tall-
as tough as a Bear.

Years, Months, Days, Hours.
My eyes still glance-
back to where i was born.
I see the little, small,
those wee insects on the floor.
Yet i am afraid-
My body quakes before Them.

Minutes, Seconds, Tick, Tock.
I watch them grow-
They are no threat at all.
Yet i see Them Grow, Grow,
I am frightened.
i am apalled-
for they are growing.

Minutes, Seconds, Tick, Tock.
I glare at them-
I shall try to beat them down.
To claim my superior place, my pride,
I will stand above them.
i want to stand above Them-
but They are Growing.

Time has surpassed I.
i am frail and old-
They are strong with years.
i watch Them and i fear Them,
i fear not who they are.
I had, and i have always feared-
who They have Become with Time.
