Eye of the Storm
The afternoon sky took on shades of gray
Blue skies and dripping sunlight, hid far away
The air around me is pulsing and dense
A blink of lightning, then count the silence
Until the thunder sounds at a distance
Listening closely, you hear no existence
The bird's song is put on pause
A Saturday's beauty is at a loss
Then clouds release what it could no longer contain
Drenching the world with falling rain
Sidewalk chalk cleans away down the street
And you can feel the atmosphere's every breath and beat
I feel the drops race down my skin
I close my eyes to the earth and breathe in
I sigh aloud while I dream to keep warm
As I stand in the eye, I'm lost in the storm
