Complications of the Simplest Nature

In order to win my heart,
oh, where do I start?
you must be gentle, kind,
but that’s not hard to find,
you much be protective, nice,
then add a bit of spice.

To win my mind,
the second hardest to bind,
you must be patient, smart,
opinionated, but never tart,
you must be happy, not mean,
or I will not be so keen.

And last, but best, my soul,
the one that leaps to rock and roll,
begs to be nurtured and learned,
Oh, everyday, how it has yearned
for the simple, inexpensive things,
only then can you get the diamond rings.
