cold nights, hot days

No walls around this trap
I walked and walked to reach a love
For I knew across that devilish world a better life awaited.
Although his face was a blur in my mind, and her soft touch had vanished from my skin,
My growling stomach only knew that it would be full once i arrived home.
A million footsteps on the sand were floundered by the wind.
Only skeletons remained, they did not fear.
The fear however dwells within me,
Just by reminiscing those two days I can presence the burning sun.
The strength i carried overcame my fears
So i walked across the desert with my brand new boots.
I managed to ignore the coyotes that surrounded me,
They could savor my small body in their jaws,
I could taste water on my lips.
The Trail of fears came to its end,
 Unlike many i survived.
Twelve years later not only in dreams i feel the hot days and the cold nights follow me thru this path.
The sand rouse to be a city, the coyotes are human like.
I no longer need water, for there is a shadow above me.
His face disappeared but her touch remained still as i keep walking on the other side of that wall-less trap.
I find myself still living hot days and cold nights in a different land.
