City Towers
Little Sparrow, your wings have been broken ~
Your feathers are in disarray,
Your downy chest is blood bespattered,
Your love lies dead beside you.
And yet you live on,
Seeking to heal your broken wings,
To gain respite from autumn shadows.
Your courage humbles me.
Little Sparrow, words cannot be spoken ~
Who can hear what you have to say?
Who can judge if your life has mattered?
Who cares if you sing anew?
No disillusion,
No silence falls while your voice sings;
Dwelling amongst the city towers,
With no desire to flee.
Little Sparrow, bright eyes slow to darken ~
Can you still strive to find a way?
Can you live on to see love shattered?
Days of sunshine seem so few.
