A therapist
The supreme alleviator of stress,
water;
its what surrounds us,
it is within us, and
it keeps us alive,
yet
we take for granted
the power, and severity
of such a simple substance.
Introduced from the very start,
it is impossible not to attach yourself to this
like a mother to a child
is man to water.
The beach,
its where we go to counsel ourselves,
the crashing waves along the shore
seem to tear down doubts,
fears, and insecurities; each one knocking down
bits and pieces of a wall you built.
By days end,
your sand in between your toes,
your ruffled hair doesn't matter at all
because your session is over,
and your levee has breached.
