almost seventeen
Markus Kiener 1960 (Regensdorf)
I was almost seventeen
when I left the school
taught and educated
but running like a fool
I was looking for another life
in another time and world
where everybody is just going to
expect little boys and girls
I was almost seventeen
when I got a job
was tall and I was old enough
to work right on the top
the bosses, they said to me „listen boy
here I’m the only chief“
but none of them really showed me
which of them I should believe
I was almost seventeen
when I got into fears
I was the kid in a medium size firm
for four long and bitter years
although I enjoyed a training
and I earned my very first money
the time I had I tell you
wasn’t really funny
I was almost seventeen
when I saw the lad
for every thing I was the cause
that had been made bad
sometimes I was their handyman
sometimes their piece of dirt
by showing me their feeling
that I ain’t the living worth
I was almost seventeen
when I did realize
whatever I was going through
the reality was before my eyes
„whatever you wanna see today
see it with your mind“
somebody told me this some years ago
when I was just getting blind
I was almost seventeen
when I well understood
that nothing comes from nothing
and nothing ever should
and nobody is the way he lives
and if he is only a king
who knows to feed the people indeed
what may the future bring
