Everyone Has Their Own Style

I don’t worry ‘bout the meter
Or the rhyming pattern
Don’t care ‘bout structure
As for me it doesn’t matter

And I’m no stranger
To pen a poetic rhyme
If it does or doesn’t
Well that’s just fine

All that matters to me
When my muse does the talking
And lyrical wheels start turning
That my fingers do the walking

It comes out how it comes out
I might adjust it here and there
But not to complicate
The original thoughts right there

The more time I spend fussin’
With structure and meter
I could be writing from my heart
To make it easy for the reader

Everyone has their own style
And I’m no exception
I hope it goes over well
But no guarantees on its reception

DanceOfThePoet'sPen

Guess you could say I'm a self taught poet. I started writing poetry as a means of dealing with the emotions of finding my Birthmother's obituary and grave site after searching for 10 years. I continued writing and over the course of the last 20 years I've become comfortable in how I write. You'll notice I tend to write a lot about nostalgia and old memories. Hey, when you round the corner of 60 years, you start thinking a lot about the past and where you've been. One of my subjects I write about is love, but I try to write of other things too. I've lived on the south shore of Massachusetts for all of my 64 years. But I love all of New England. Aside from writing poetry, I also love photography and have quite a collection of old antique cameras. Baseball, football, muscle cars and car shows are also some of my interests. Not too crazy about Winter. Spring & Summer are my favorite seasons. more…
