Ah! prends un coeur humain, laboureur trop avide,
Lorsque d'un pas tremblant l'indigence timide
De tes larges moissons vient, le regard confus,
Recueillir après toi les restes superflus.
Souviens-toi que Cybèle est la mère commune.
Laisse la probité que trahit la fortune.
Comme l'oiseau du ciel, se nourrir à tes pieds
De quelques grains épars sur la terre oubliés.
