Maudit soit mille fois le Borgne de Libye,
Qui, le coeur des rochers perçant de part en part,
Des Alpes renversa le naturel rempart,
Pour ouvrir le chemin de France en Italie.
Mars n'eût empoisonné d'une éternelle envie
Le coeur de l'Espagnol et du Français soudard,
Et tant de gens de bien ne seraient en hasard
De venir perdre ici et l'honneur et la vie.
Le Français corrompu par le vice étranger
Sa langue et son habit n'eût appris à changer,
Il n'eût changé ses moeurs en une autre nature.
Il n'eût point éprouvé le mal qui fait peler,
Il n'eût fait de son nom la vérole appeler,
Et n'eût fait si souvent d'un buffle sa monture.
