A Time To Share

I’ve come as far as I can go on my own. This is my problem, this is my story. I’ve done all I can do in my life alone, the answer is you, and my inspiration is your beauty.

From this day forward it’s you that makes me grow. You that makes me whole. I wonder if you know?

The roads been long, I’ve seen war and I’ve seen peace across the shinning sea. I’ve had to start from scratch more than once, been down and out, everywhere in-between.

I’ve loved and I’ve hurt, had family and friends taken away. I’ve laughed until I cried; I’ve suffered hell because of my conscience day after day.

Of course I’ve had some good fortune along with the bad, my life's been meager but not what I would call sad.

Somehow, now when I look forward though I haven’t got a clue, the key to my success is the belief in me, I see in you.

The best that’s left in me is a me I find now I hardly knew. Surely if the best of my past be the worst of my future, oh the life I could have with the love of one special woman.

So here I am, a time in my life to reflect and share. Retire my years with a woman beyond compare. I’ll close my eyes and take her hand, never again will I see only one set of footprints in the sand.

I’ll follow her into a new life, together as a perfect pair.

Numi

"Numi" is the pen-name I adopted in 2007 after a friend gifted me a copy of The Essential Rumi; by Coleman Barks. After reading some of my works, it was suggested that it reminded them of the works by Rumi. In no way do I align myself with this Great Master Poet, but I do feel a deep connection to his poetry, and the book of Essentials was my constant companion during a 5 year saga, where I was stranded in the Amazon Jungle of Peru, from 2010-2015. Everything in my collections were written during a 4 year period, 1999-2003. more…
