Mindful Mary

Ruby Buttons wore a dress of emerald green,
the most radiant colour that Mary had ever seen.
It was rather low at the bodice with buttons galore.
Bobby Truffle caught an eyeful and Mary gave him what for.
Be mindful young man and do not stare.
Good things come to those who wait, and she gave him a glare.
Freddy Doodle had a poodle, whose eyes were covered in hair.
Mary took a pair of scissors and popped him in a chair.
He looks a fright dear boy, watch closely now,
while I trim his hair, so he can see his chow.
That’s how it’s done so be mindful of this,
or I shall certainly push you into a ditch.
Virginia Squash ate nothing but green beans,
licking her plate entirely clean.
Where are your manners dear child,
a knife and fork are certainly required.
Be mindful to use them as I say,
or you may find yourself eating, a mouthful of hay.
John Junior had a yellow canary, that sat on his head.
It sang and danced until it was dead.
Mary was quite displeased with this state of affairs.
This was the last straw, so she sent him to play with bears.
Now be mindful to stay and play in the woods,
It will do the big bears a world of good.
She grinned and turned her lovely head,
just in time to see poor John Junior quite dead.
Well, that is end of this delightful story, of Mindful Mary in all her glory.
Be mindful not to cross her in so many ways,
or you may find yourself trapped in her onerous maze.
