Dreadful Wait

These shadows cast by flickering light,
Anxiety's grip, relentless, tight.
A month of waiting and endless dread,
No sleep just nightmares in this haunting bed.

Each passing day a heavy toll,
The unknown whispers takes its toll.
In silent rooms my mind does roam,
Through corridors of fear alone.

The medical examiner such a distant hope,
To ease the burden and help us cope.
But time stands still a frozen breath,
As we await the verdict of her death.

In whispered prayers and silent pleas,
We beg for answers on bended knees.
For in the depths of uncertainty's hold,
We yearn for truth to be unrolled.

Oh, for the clarity the examiner brings,
To lift the veil on broken wings.
To breathe again, with souls set free,
From the grip of uncertainty.

Let the findings be revealed,
And let the truth be gently sealed.
So Hold on tight dear heart and see,
Through tears and fears we'll find the key.
For in knowing we find release,
And in breathing we find our peace.

About this poem

My emotional journey of waiting for the medical examiner's findings to determine the cause of death. Once cause of death is determined there will be a sense of relief and peace, allowing for a deeper breath after a period of intense anxiety and waiting.
