A Feast of Rosemary

I look out upon a sea of colour
when spring is sprung her best,
leaving poor winter desolate,
gnarled and spectre grey.
Red cedar’s colour now returning,
as his reddish tinged sweater
adorns his gracious form.

The garden’s blossoms - such vivid colours
are a feast to my eyes,
each fragrant petal enticing
their pollinators.
White cedar’s white and lilac flowers
sing gracefully in the breeze.
Such show-offs here are born.

I turn my attention now to the herbs,
these delicious, sweet meats -
such treats that blend so gracefully
as perfect garnish.
Rosemary, my favourite of all,
stands tall, her arms outstretched –
gives me the warmest hug.
