LIE STILL TONIGHT

Barry Green Jr 1973 (Florida)

LIE STILL TONIGHT

Lie still tonight
Gentle in the starlight
Lie still my King
Listen as Your Angels sing

Let me bow tonight
Before the world's fight
Let me be still
Secure here in Your will

Seems so silent, tonight
We set aside wrong for right
For a moment, peace can reign
Before that Child becomes slain

Watch over Your sheep, tonight
As we see such a glorious sight!
Declaring peace to those men
Who follow You once again

We shiver in cold, tonight
The world cowers in fright
So othen has the world gone round
Since that Holy night in David's Town

Lie still my Lord, tonight
As we give gifts by candle light
Oh my King, keep my eyes
On You, so I may be wise

This prayer I lift tonight
That we walk humbly in Thy sight
That we seek you in the morn
With humble hearts reborn
AMEN

About this poem

But the angel said to them, “Do not be afraid. I bring you good news that will cause great joy for all the people. Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; he is the Messiah, the Lord. 12 This will be a sign to you: You will find a baby wrapped in cloths and lying in a manger.” Suddenly a great company of the heavenly host appeared with the angel, praising God and saying, “Glory to God in the highest heaven, and on earth peace to those on whom his favor rests. ” Like 2:10-14
