Soldier

In  times of war and  days of agony
There lived a man with heart of piety
He neither eats nor sleep for thought of victory
He fights with might to secure his nation.

When hopes were lost, and dreams were shattered,
His nation was bleeding and filled with misery
He strives with sweat and fought with bravery
He gave his life and left his family.

The kids await the sight of the father
His mother was crying for thought of her soldier
The wife was craving the voice of her lover
His life was given to save his country.

About this poem

I was inspired to write a poem about the soldiers after watching a video on how the Nigerian soldiers were exchanging fire with some notorious bandits, at the end of the video something terrible happened to the soldiers and I was so touched by it.
