In lieu of flowers

In lieu of flowers

I wonder about the stars in the sky
Long before the screen stole our eyes
Stories crimson campfire told
Ying and Yang and Young and old
I wonder about the deep blue sea
When we crawled out and learned to breathe
Evolutions flesh and stable bone
In animal skin We carved the stone
I wonder about the eternal wind
The birth of death and love and sin
Self righteous right
Self righteous wrong
War drum rhythm Angel song
I wonder about the sunburn blaze
City streets The soulless maze
Divinely pull the puppet string
Hive and drone and venom sting
I wonder about the pretty pain
The art it made A world insane
Hope and light in darkest dream
Hope and light yet to be seen
I wonder about the Heaven told
Where Hell is bought and
Hell is sold
Such Information twisted blade
Bleed for truth And Lies cascade
I wonder about a child’s chance
Stardust Moonlight Cosmic dance
Future Love or Future Hate
Still unwritten by surest fate
I wonder about my mental health
Open book or cunning stealth
In lieu of flowers Tears and words
In lieu of flowers Silence heard
I wonder about the poems end
I wonder and wonder
And wonder again
Thoughts are born
Thoughts they die
In lieu of flowers
A star filled sky

About this poem

It’s very much a lyrical writing I usually do for my music I write. However it stands very well on it’s own.
