someday

Dark thoughts invading my brain
I want sunshine not rain

I think of things I'm grateful for
But still  sadness is in my core

I cannot weep
I cannot cry
My very soul
Just wants to die

I've lived this way
Too many years
I am completely
Out of tears

My thoughts
My hopes
Have turned to fears
My laughter now is only jeers

Still I find I reach for the rainbow
I reach for the sun and
bask in its glow

I tell myself some day this will end
My true self will emerge again
and be my friend

About this poem

this was written during one of the difficult days of my caregiving journey. For those of you that are a caregiver you know well the feeling of not having a life anymore.
