Chewing the Cud
Robert loughran 1962 (Ireland)
That thought is not intelligence at work,
more a chewing of the cud,
a mindless rumination
of would, or should, or could,
a residue of inattention,
a wallow in old mud.
More a choking point,
a blocking of attention,
without mobility enough to attend,
trades perception for retention,
a made to fit story,
with beginning middle and end.
