Illegally Etrangère

Illegally Étrangère

She was drowning
Letting her life slip away
Under an unauthorized blend
Of alcohol and tears
Sometimes stirred up
With some audible sobs
But mostly
As smooth as a whisky on the rock

About this poem

Borders, laws, lines and barriers have made life 'illegal' and a human being a 'strange' object to another. Their voices can't be heard, they don't speak 'normal', silenced in the name of profit. Even when they cry it is considered as hysterical - thus unheard, unnoticed and made their expression 'Illegal'.
