Pantoum to Sadness

Sadness is a stealthy seductress
She whispers alluring words
Offering the comfort of familiarity
On well-worn paths into the darkness

She whispers alluring words
Begging me to come to her once again
On well-worn paths into the darkness
Seeking the deception of shadows

Begging me to come to her once again
Her caress exciting and dangerous
Seeking the deception of the shadows
Illusions make strange bedfellows

Her caress exciting and dangerous
Getting lost in her amorous embrace
Illusions make strange bedfellows
She lingers long after I wish her gone

Getting lost in her amorous embrace
She weaves melancholy into my senses
She lingers long after I wish her gone
Her black tendrils entrapping me

She weaves melancholy into my senses
The ink of sadness mixes into my soul
Her black tendrils entrapping me
Distorting my perception of reality

The ink of sadness mixes into my soul
Casting gray debris in her wake
Distorting my perception of reality
Painting sadness across the horizon

Casting gray debris in her wake
I emerge from the murky pool
Painting sadness across the horizon
In brilliant colors of awakening

I emerge from the murky pool
Finally free of her shackles
In brilliant colors of awakening
Until my familiar lover returns

About this poem

Parts of this poem rattled around in my head for bit until JokerGem nudged me to do another pantoum. Thanks!
