Our Mothers Endless Love

Jay A Rake 1958 (Marietta- Ohio)

Our Mothers Endless Love

The Mornings’ cold when mom lights the furnace,

She shakes the suet from the coal furnace below.

She makes the coffee and lights a cigarette,

And kisses dad before he would go.

She comes into our bed room,

Shakes us gently, says it's time for school.

I heard her say, don’t forget those math problems,

I worked on, while you cleaned your dads’ tools.

Momma never complained and helped us write,

Working hard for us every day.

From breakfast in the morning to,

Giving us washcloth baths, every other night.

She was the cheerleader at our ball games,

And the nurse when we got hurt.

The best sandwich maker during picnics,

And the top baker for desserts.

Momma never ever fussed for what she did,

To get her kids through another day.

But she smiled when she would call for us,

Judy, John, Jim, and Jay!!

If I could bring back from the Memories,

Of our mother to this day.

Was the love she showed her children,

She graciously gave away.
