Take Me Back

Doug Haberman 1959 (Albuquerque, NM)

February 24

Where are the float-on-air days
The ones I don’t want to forget
When we danced to the magical feeling
The bright sun just might never set?

Take me back

Where are the long ago times
Our evening embrace was so tight
And we shared what each day had delivered
And stars seemed to smile at night?

Take me back

Do you recall how for years
Love stitched together our dreams
Before fate pulled out its dark blade
And ripped us apart at the seams?

Take me back

You’ve been living alone for a while
Is your life giving what you desire?
I’m betting that, like mine, it isn’t
Can we try to rekindle the fire?

Take me back
