Irizarry 2001 (walla walla)

on that day born, a fiest was formed
to honor my gift to the world
dresses and suits of gold, diamond
plates, cups, silverware from china
all lay displayed in paragon
but I, a host am unwilling
I undesiring of
such fall exasperated
sitting in the corner of mind
with tears and a smile I hide
will all applauds in my demise
And as they gather to feast on pride
they’ll find plates empty, bread moldy
silverware ravished by the rust
and for the pig, they had slaughtered
was set too long out in the sun.
