Nothing Without Meaning

All leaves I turn, never without veins.
Even slabs of wood, formed for man’s ease, never without grain.
The thoughts that flow, like oil through my brain, are never lacking pain.
The trees that stand, would never tower, without their roots’ gain.
I often search for something small, reduced by man or machine, that would be so simple, as to exist without meaning.
