The restless soul within

Brittany Lee 1995 (Oklahoma)

The restless soul within.

Restlessness,
A tempest within the soul,
a ceaseless yearning that always takes its toll.
It whispers into the depth of night, a haunting melody
The internal fight.

Like a caged bird she yearns to be free.
To be whom she was meant to be.
The wild heart she owns, will forever dance with the flame,
just to seek comfort,
Only finding pain.

It's a constant companion,
Never satisfied,
Always in the same motion,
It drives her forward, longing for people and places anew,
Often making her want to scream.
Its her reminder she once had dreams- it leaves her empty,
Her heart ripped apart at the seams.
It knows no bounds or time,
it transcends any reason, even defies this rhyme.

All of her being aches to be free from the life she's known,
Pushing boundaries forbidden and untold.
How ever she knows even if her thirst is abated,
her hunger satiated,
She'll be all the more weary and sore-
Still searching for something more.
