Victory for the void

In the darkest depths of cosmic void,
Where shadows crawl and elder gods abide,
Awakened from slumber by forbidden rites,
The ancient ones emerge to claim their rights.

In the cold embrace of starry night,
Where madness reigns and sanity takes flight,
They watch with eyes that pierce through time,
And whisper in whispers of eldritch rhyme.

In the realms beyond our mortal sight,
Where monsters lurk and nightmares take flight,
Their tentacles extend to grip our world,
And the eldritch beings begin to unfurl.

In the distant corners of forsaken realms,
Where human minds can never fathom or discern,
They gather in their hallowed halls,
To plot the end of mankind's tragic fall.

As they scheme and conjure in their ancient lairs,
Their malevolent plots draw ever nearer to our lairs,
And as the stars align in a dreadful dance,
Their doom-laden plans will shall surely advance.

In the end, when all is lost and hope is gone,
And mankind lies broken upon shattered bone,
The eldritch gods will claim their victories won,
As we scream in terror and our souls are undone.

About this poem

When we wake up, sometimes the remnants of a nightmare tug at our thoughts, hinting at the horror our minds keep from us. What horror have you forgotten?
