I Am Not Perfect

I AM NOT PERFECT

No. I am not perfect.
I never claimed to be,
But you'll be forgiven for passing judgement on me .
That I'm a complete whole put together so well ,
That you can't even see the cracks in my shell

You judge me by my whole and the sum of all my parts,
I've been broken into pieces that you can't tell apart.
There are beautiful parts and ugly parts I still dismantle with ease ,
I can just fall apart with just a gentle breeze.

But every single day my courage is put to the test,
And every single day I do my very best.
I rely on myself, I stand alone
I wear my crown proudly, as I sit on my throne.

I slay my own demons, As I fight my deepest fears.
And over the years I've learnt, To dry my own tears.
So to all of you who judge me for the life you think I choose,
Not one of you could last a single day in my shoes.
You think you know who I am, but you just know my story.
You view me as a failure, because you failed to see my glory.
Some days I feel so strong, at times I just feel lost,
An often I feel like giving up, but I know what it would cost.
You say I think I'm perfect, that is just not true.
I have so many flaws in me if you only knew,
I'm looking for my place in life, somewhere I belong,
I'm battling the Devil day by day, so I know I must be strong.
I'm not perfect in any way, this I know for sure,
So don't ignore the fight in me, or the tears that I've endured.
Don't believe the lies they tell, or what they think they saw,
Just get to know me personally, and all my
                PERFECT FLAWS!!!!!!

About this poem

The poem was inspired by my broken heart. It was written while drowning in my own tears. My children's father was murdered, and I've become their emotional punching bag in a way. No matter my efforts I'm not perfect and nothing I do will ever take the pain away.
