Lessons

To have loved and lost
Is to have appreciated opportunity cost.

To strike up a love affair
Just in the hopes of getting out of there

The intention was to stay
Instead, there creeps a need to stray.

Not made for constants, we try our hardest
Pushing a snowball up a hill
Propelling forward, unable to stop
      Until-

It all tumbles back onto us
Covering our tracks.

Unable to adjust, we wander
Until we find comfort-
With someone else.

To have loved and lost
Is- To have never loved at all.
