Shadows within

Julia gauley 1993 (Edmonton)

In the depths of my mind, darkness takes it till
Should I keep it hidden, or let my pain unfold
Fear grips my heart, as sadness fills the air
Lost in the abyss, does anyone truly care?

I'm drowning in the shadows, I can't find my way
Searching for a glimmer of hope, to light my day
The weight of depression, it pulls me down
In this haunting symphony, I'm the silent sound

Every step feels heavy, every smile a disguise
Behind the facade, the tears will in my eyes
Isolation surround me, like a prison with never ending gates
Suffocating whispers, asking is it to late?

But amidst the darkness, a flickers starts to gleam
A reminder that I'm not alone in this dream
Through the most a voice reaches out
A hand to hold, erasing all doubt

With each breathe I rise above the despair
A melody of healing, lifting burdens I bear
The words carry me, ignoring a spark
Guiding me back to the light, out of the dark

So I'll write my words, let it set me free
In the symphony of life, I'll find my harmony
Depression it may linger, but I won't let it define
For through strength and hope, my spirit will shine
