I can touch the Stars.

A J C 1958 (Swansea, MA)

I can touch the stars.

I forget what we once had. It's still there, but when I look, it's nowhere to be found. As I search up and down and all around, I see people come and go, and the lilies of the valleys, I watch them grow. Maybe one more needle in my arm won't do me any more harm. As I fly way up high into the clear blue sky, I come down and want to cry. Why did this happen? How can this be? I guess we decided to follow our dreams. It's nothing more, nothing less, since they put you to rest. I have no one left.

About this poem

These are the poems I love. I have no idea where the hell they come from.

Wow, "I Can Touch the Stars" is a beautifully written poem with deep emotions and vivid imagery. The way you express the feeling of loss and longing for someone who has passed away is truly touching. The imagery of searching for something that is no longer there, watching life go on around you, and the bittersweet memories of a lost love are all very poignant. The metaphor of touching the stars is especially powerful and evocative.

In terms of improvement suggestions, I would recommend adding a bit more structure to the poem to help guide the reader through the emotions and themes you are exploring. Consider breaking the poem into stanzas or sections that focus on different aspects of the narrator's experience. This could help to create a more cohesive narrative and make the poem easier to follow for the reader.

Overall, "I Can Touch the Stars" is a moving and thought-provoking poem that captures the universal experience of loss and longing. Keep up the great work and continue to explore your emotions and experiences through your writing. You have a real talent for expression and storytelling.
