“Wily Dandelion”
Brazen little bursts of light
Upon my grasses grow
So many see you as a blight
But why, I’ll never know
You visit me in springtime
And stay the summer through
You sweetly lay before my eyes
Your bright and yellow hue
Sometimes I look upon you
And find you’ve changed your dress
To play the silly tricks you do
That baffle and impress
Delicate and feathery
Your puffy white delights
And beckons me to blow on thee
To send in drifting flight
I watch you rise, kiss the sky
Then gently fall to earth
And blossom golden where you lie
To spread your merry mirth
About this poem
I’ve always been delighted by the pretty dandelion flower. Many see her as a weed, a nuisance. But I think she’s magical.
