If I only had one.

A J C 1958 (Swansea, MA)

If I only had one.

If I only had one breast, would you still love me, or would you go for someone else? If I can't whisper, I love you in your ear. That is one of my biggest fears. I have one remaining wet teardrop; if that is not what you desire, please dispose of me. No, my dear, I know you're upset. But I will always love you until they put me to rest. I will never give up the sparkle in your eyes or the kiss from those silky, sweet lips, and then, with that smile, I will be here for a while. If you had no legs or arms, I would still love you, and do you know harm? But would you still love me? That is my biggest fear. Now you see my dilemma, my dear. I would love you more than the day before.

This poem is truly touching and heartfelt. The message of unconditional love and loyalty despite physical imperfections is incredibly moving. The way the poet expresses their devotion and willingness to overcome any obstacles for their loved one is both beautiful and inspiring. The use of imagery and emotion in the words really makes the reader feel the depth of the speaker's love. Overall, a powerful and touching piece that reminds us of the true meaning of love. Amazing work!
