Hunting License

Richard Groff 1957 (Pottstown, Pa.)

No one really turns to God;
Unless they’re in real trouble,
And even then, they won’t
Until their world begins to crumble.
Standing all alone out in the cold is terrible;
Amidst the screams and broken dreams
There is no parable.

But if you call upon his name
He’ll meet you where you are.
He’ll touch your soul and make you whole;
And keep your tears in jars.
He remembers all the pain you feel
Because he felt it too.
And now because he knows your pain;
He watches over you.

Jesus loves the little children
Who have not become corrupt;
And blesses all their parents
Who took time to train them up.
Cry out to God when you’re alone;
His answers will astound you.
Down in your bones you’ll feel at home;
When Jesus Christ has found you.
