Belonging

A great big world of diversity, billions strong,
Still can't find a place I belong.
School is not safe or welcoming but a war zone.
Still can't find a place I belong.

Wanted to go to the movies but was scared I might get shot.
Can't find any friends because I don't like what is not.
Don't like to drink but I am in a cool zone.
Yet still can't find where I belong.

Everyone wants a life that has meaning to fulfill.
If you lack it many find that their mind becomes ill.
They say don't spend all your time all alone.
Yet there is nowhere in this world I belong.

People are always talking and telling you what you should do.
Fed up with advice from those who don't know the real you.
Sticking to the plan and fighting for a zone.
I will find a place I belong.

Years of trying to get to a place that I can get out of this rat race.
Working so hard trying to deal with life face to face.
Then one day I finally made it, money is here to enjoy.
Time for a reveal of my friends coming like an envoy.
Money is what I have become, and I am in the green zone.
So now they tell me I belong.

Belonging I sought like it was a job.
Looking for the image of success I refuse to be the snob.
Money is a freedom from what is now gone.
But not the solution for where I belong.

I belong with those who know and really love me.
Not the artificial world where they say what to be.
I belong where I can be the real me.
I belong because it's now I can see.
I belong because I like me.

B is foe bold to be strong.
E is effort to sing my own song.
L is for love, that is what I need.
O is for opportunity that is in planting a seed.
N is for never giving up the fight.
G is for getting wise and owning your own plight.

Belong because you deserve, challenge to stand!
Belonging is what you have to demand.
