Hero without a cape

Hero without a cape

By Steven K. Anderson

I had a dream and it was about you.
My only wish is that is came true.
I am lost without you here.
I just want to make you reappear.

So many words left unspoken.
Since you have left I've been broken.
So many regrets, things I wish weren't said.
Stuck tossing and turning in my bed.

I loved you more than you'll ever know.
Although sometimes it didn't show.
You were my super hero without a cape.
The answer to all my questions, my escape.

Beer after beer I wish you were here.
So fuckin far but yet so near.
After every cocktail or mixture
I see the reflection of your picture.

Trying my hardest not to be sad
But it kills be inside not having my Dad.
Trying my best to be the big little brother,
wanting to fix my sisters and Mother.

We are happy you are no longer in pain.
Your memories will not die in vain.
Although we all will never be the same,
Our love for you will remain unchanged.

You were the best Dad we could've asked for.
Our only regret is time. We wanted more.
We just hope you're happy wherever you may be.
Until next time Dad, I hope you fly free!
