FAREWELL TO MY LOVE

Terry Teza 1966 (Yangon)

Dying man is an elder
Who has lived a good life
For more than nine decades.

Sitting by the bed is
His gentle old wife
For more than half a century
Sharing many fond memories.

Looking at the man she loved
There is a sorrow in her eyes
Pain in her heart
As he is taking each breath
Through the oxygen mask.

Holding her trembling hands together,
There is a silent prayer;

We have spend many years
I want you to stay longer
For it is love that bind us together.
But, knowing that
You are not far in my heart
If it is time for us to part
I give you permission to depart.

Suffer no more, please
Go in peace to peace
Till we meet again
Farewell, my love.
