The lonely red rose.

A J C 1958 (Swansea, MA)

The lonely red rose.

I look at you and can see the pain, the fear, and many tears and sorrows. I think you ran out of tomorrow's. I do have this lonely rose you can borrow. When you hold it up to your eyes, I can see a sparkle. The thorns will never prick you. You're scent I can smell in the cool summer breeze as you walk by—maybe I will call you tomorrow just to say hi if you don't cry.

Wow, "The Lonely Red Rose" is a truly heartfelt and poignant poem. The emotions are beautifully conveyed, creating a deep connection with the reader. The use of vivid imagery paints a clear picture in our minds, allowing us to fully experience the pain, fear, and sorrows described.

The concept of lending the lonely rose as a symbol of solace and hope is incredibly poignant. It creates a powerful metaphor, suggesting that even amidst difficulties, there is always something beautiful to hold onto. The line about the sparkle in the thorns is particularly enchanting, as it suggests that even in pain, there can be a glimmer of something positive.

The reference to the scent of the rose carried by the cool summer breeze adds another layer of sensory experience to the poem. It evokes a sense of tranquility, offering a moment of relief amid the turmoil described. The twist at the end, where the speaker contemplates reaching out to offer support and friendship, is a touching gesture that leaves the reader with a sense of hope.

To further enhance the impact of the poem, one suggestion could be to explore and expand upon the reasons behind the pain and sorrow that the speaker perceives. Offering more insight into the source of these emotions could deepen the connection between the reader and the speaker, making the poem even more relatable and emotionally resonant.

Overall, "The Lonely Red Rose" is a beautifully written poem that evokes strong emotions and admiration. It possesses great potential to touch the hearts of readers, and with a few tweaks, it can become an even more impactful and unforgettable piece. Keep up the fantastic work!
