Playground Pals

Playground Pals

the sun lays its head to rest
as hears her down the block
homework’s all completed yes
time to play ‘til six o’clock

this little girl starts caroling
on her banana seated bike
how sweet to hear a child sing
just before a playground hike

her wheels soon rip his leaf filled lawn
then stop and hit the ground
looking up beyond the drapes undrawn
a smiling face she found

which whisked away to nab the door
before his folks could see
his bestest bud who he’d adore
beyond eternity

play would they to grow together
enduring time apart
even distance could not sever
the friendship in their heart

which was to last for forty years
if Karma would have her way
a spiritual love to cleanse their tears
‘til each head of hair turns gray
