The Chains That Remain

When our physical shackles were removed

We thought that we had been moved

To a place of freedom and equality

But somehow everything turned out horribly

For the mental shackles still remain

Those who could see this were thought to be insane

It's almost like there is something that they cannot contain

Hidden within was a flicker of light

To guide us all through each and every night

To align us back to were we belong

There must have been reason for things going so wrong

But the past is not were we belong

The future is not ours to see

Only the present decides what we can be

Once we overstand this

We will notice we have always been free."
