Dear Human Man
When you hear my song
do you shiver
like I do
when your war cries disgrace my ears?
Pray to your prophet
that my hands cannot reach you
from my home of sandy soil.
Is wealth what you have sought?
Return to your home, human,
for we have no riches to give you.
Have you forgotten the value of your lungs?
I will remind you.
May your prayers remain unanswered,
for the only god that will listen here
are ones of the waters.
May your terror resound
like my sisters calls,
when you took them from our home.
Beloved, Righteous, and Scorned,
the siren
About this poem
The synchronicity and similarities between women and sirens hold a dear piece of my soul. The siren is forbidden and evil, but a prize well one through violence and war. The siren is shown to be evil for defending her home, as a woman is painted to be loud and undesirable for standing for herself.
