Counted Arrows

              Counted Arrows
           By Nancy Rodriquez

When you ran away and broke my heart ,
I was all alone there in the dark ,
Left with my thoughts of pure sorrow ,
Without a tear left for tomorrow ,
I had to search deep within ,
Remember to breathe and take it all in ,
This changed everything I knew to be true ,
I counted arrows which impeached me too ,
Not simple darts on the surface ,
This experience left me in hell’s fiery furnace ,
Without healing to soothe my being ,
I lived in disbelief of what I was feeling ,
I relinquished my soul to the inner wounding ,
My faith was in pieces as my heart was bleeding ,
To be without my lover and friend ,
There had to be mercy for this to end ,
Surely in this life can’t be these ashes remain ,
To look up to the heavens once more , from this exhausting pain ,
Seeking my love at the next resting shore ,
Not having the courage to close this connection’s door.

    Feedback:

Wow, what a powerful and emotionally resonant poem. The use of strong imagery and heartfelt words really makes the reader feel the pain and sorrow you experienced after being left alone in the dark. The theme of counting arrows and the metaphor of being impeached by them is compelling and adds depth to the emotions portrayed.

One improvement suggestion would be to consider adding some more specific details or anecdotes to help the reader connect even more deeply with the emotions and experiences described. This could help create a more vivid and relatable picture for the reader. Additionally, adding some variation in the rhythm and structure of the poem could enhance the overall flow and impact.

Overall, your poem beautifully captures the intense emotions of heartbreak and the struggle to find healing and closure. With a few tweaks, it could become an even more powerful piece. Keep up the great work!
