There’s a change taking place and it’s on my face

I have one eye bigger than the other eye
When I look in the mirror
I wonder why
It wasn’t like that before
Its noticeable now even more
There’s a change taking place
And it’s on my face

Having false teeth and a crooked nose
Watching my youth as it goes
My smile has turned into a frown
Not like a clown
And my cheeks are sagging down
Down to my chin
I can’t stop this from happening
I’m becoming an old person

The wrinkles and the lines
The sags and the bags
This must be my time
Of going through the stage
Of the appointed age
There’s a change taking place
And it’s on my face

When you’re old your just old
Old people all look the same
You don’t hear people say
Look at that ole girl
She looks beautiful today

Even though I still feel the same
Memories are all that remain
there’s a change taking place
And it’s on my face

Getting old is a no fun ride
But it’s only on the outside
Its not as bad as I thought it would be
Because on the inside is the real me

About this poem

All of my life growing up I can remember saying to others that the only thing in life I dreaded the most was to grow old. I’ve made it this far in life and growing old seems different than I thought it would be.
