Old Man in the Woods

Old Man in the Woods

Tired of living,
fear of life,
each day begins with hope,
but ends another day of strife.

Scared and alone,
he talks to the wind,
listening for an answer,
but he only hears his sins.

Ashamed of the past,
fear of the future,
he’s still a child,
never to mature.

Stuck in his yesterdays,
a new tomorrow never comes,
he looks out at heaven,
as he sits in hells slums.

But somehow he hangs on,
we can’t change our destiny,
if it’s in the cards,
maybe one day he’ll be free.

On yet another winters day,
he still looks forward to spring,
so he walks out into the woods,
to go once more on his favorite swing.
