Not Mine
You're not mine
Yet sometimes I wish you were
I know you don't want to be mine
Yet I wish you did
And I've created this idea in my head
An idea that you want me but keep it from everyone
Including yourself.
It drives me crazy
Cause I know you don't want me
But It's all kind of hazy.
You don't want me the way I want you
You're not mine
And as much as I try to get over that
sometimes I wish you were
But you're okay with not being mine
And that hurts me inside
Even if I show it doesn't and even if I say I'm over you
I've come up with this delusion that you secretly want me
But you won't let yourself believe it
And I wish upon stars that I can make you mine
I wish upon stars I'll wake up to you confessing your feelings
Yet you've told me them before,
You do not want me.
And I can't get over that.
So, I've spent nights alone wanting to say “I love you”
And I still wake up smiling
Just because I'm happy I even get to see you again
I smile at you daily wishing you'd smile back
And I stare from across the room, wishing you'd stare back
So, I can see your amazing smile and your gorgeous eyes
I wish you loved me like I love you
Yet that's just a dream
And I've tried facing reality
But it keeps swatting me away,
Screaming in my face
That you are okay with not being mine
I don't know why you don't love me like I love you
But I can dream
I can wish
I can hope
And I can believe
Even if I know they'll never come true.
And you'll never love me like I love you.
