One Percent

ONE PERCENT

Only one percent took the call
And said I’ll give my all

As the thunder sounded and shots rang out
Nobody knows their pain as they stood another bout

Years went by young soldiers grew old
There was nothing left for them untold

Death was no longer in their future
Their wounds had far too many sutures

To know true freedom they had seen
It was the ability to take a life so quick and clean

Images haunt their nights far from peace
Praying for solace wishing dreams would cease

The battle rages on night after night
Standing their ground back to the fight

Where’s that boy that grew to be a man
Again he’s off to fight in foreign land

His families lost, his soul is gone
Yet he goes to right the wrong

To know life is to know death
Please burry me at the deepest depth

There in that hole will lay the tortures
My soul free to soar above the cultures

Looking down on a world of peace
Maybe here I’ll find release
