as they dream
of beautiful flowers

as they tell
of their happy lives

we on the other hand
know only the torture of toiling,
know only the look of hatred
even from their children

we helped, RAISE–

About this poem

i grew up watching my mom, aunts, sisters wake up early in the morning to go and clean up white people's houses here In South Africa without any sign of appreciation from these whites.
