Shattered

The pain burns my skin and brings such anguish to me.
I see the lights but darkness surrounds me.
I hope if God is real does he hear my cries?
I feel they fall short on deaf ears without concern.
I dream I could change this path and go right.
People look at me thinking I’m fine but inside my soul twist and torment drives me crazy.
Why are dreams so far away in the night?
I look in the mirror of my soul and wish to smash it.
If I could just run and run never to be found again.
I think would this be a good end to my story?
I know I must be wrong but this book is taking its toll.
Love is hard for me when you don’t love yourself.
Who would love me too if so?
They say a shattered heart has more room.
I feel they might be wrong.
Weak is my body carrying me on but faith gives strength.
Let the storm of my mind calm so I can see ahead.
I fear the sounds might drive me to death.
I pray let this warm light cover me and warm my soul.
I just want to feel whole again.
The fact I’m shattered never mattered to others so why should it matter to me?
