If love be food for the soul, it’s delicate
Spice precise, flavor, immaculate taste
Every romance a delicious bet
It’s a process one cannot make with haste

But something sour always remains near
Broken hearts hold on like an aftertaste
Bitter like the punch of a hoppy beer
The feeling leaves a scowl upon your face

The flavor of love can never be old
Different sensations, flavor unbound
Does it grow stale and develop mold?
Does it get tossed away, fed to the hound?

Love is a delicate dish, hard to find
On every menu, but never mine
