In pieces.

When my heart left my body
It took my mind and my soul with it.
I existed as an imposter
Clinging to ideas that weren’t my own.
Changing the body I once viewed as a sacred home.
My bones break and my hands shake.
With every second I try to put one foot in front of the other
To god I pray, that he might be able to hold me in place.

Here I am, desperate to operate as a whole.
When I’ve separated my being into tiny counterparts.
That ache to be reunited at large before I slowly decompose.
Its a no wonder your exhausted.
Using your strength to build a house that has had its foundation removed
Is fighting a battle in which you were born to lose.
I will use every inch of me
To collect back each piece by piece.
And build an even stronger me.
- In pieces.

About this poem

When my heart, met my mind, met my body at the front door.. .I opened up slowly and they rushed into greet me all at once. Separation has taken it's toll, I will use every piece i have left inside me to become whole.
